His work is inspirational to me, in-that he's pursuing his personal interests, which happen to blur across several disciplines. I'm not sure that his work is helping clarify the role or responsibility of the Architect, but that doesn't seem to be his objective. He is, however, creating a sophisticated catalog of effects, techniques, systems, tools, and vocabularies for us to borrow from if need be.

But seriously, for his age he has an unbelievable resume. Though he operates, for the most part, at the periphery of the discipline of architecture his work is highly inspirational to many young (and old) designers.
