Yann Tiersen : Le Banquet

The playing of the accordion is an increasingly lost art mostly performed by older men from older countries, but there is hope for the survival of the unmistakeable sound of heritage . Yann Tiersen, a French musician and composer, is an example of an individual who has taken up the art of his elders and molded it to produce something progressive and beautifully uplifting. Tiersen is a classically trained musician of Norwegian and Belgian origins who primarily plays the piano, violin, and accordion. His style of music is often described as having minimalist composition.

Very exciting! I love the potential revival of these somewhat "lost" instruments. The accordion really creates a beautiful sound, I'd be happy to hear it used in more US music.
